5 Tips For Hair Loss

We all know that aging and genetics are big factors when it comes to hair loss, but what can we do to prevent it from occurring more rapidly? Here are some tips that may help slow down the process:
1. Hair products can build up on your scalp if not washed off properly, which can clog your hair follicles and inhibit new hair growth. Buildup can also cause your scalp to become irritated and inflamed, which can lead to more hair loss. Make sure to wash your hair thoroughly after using hair products to help prevent this from happening.
2. Stress is a big factor that can lead to hair loss. It has even been proven to be a contributing factor in alopecia. Try daily breathing exercises or peaceful meditation to lower your cortisol levels, which will hopefully slow down your hair loss as well.
3. Check your thyroid levels. Thyroid dysfunction has been shown to cause hair loss. Ask to check your thyroid hormone levels at your next doctor visit if you are experiencing hair loss.
4. Not eating properly can exacerbate hair loss. Your body needs certain nutrients like iron, protein, and vitamin C to maintain a healthy head of hair and if your body lacks those nutrients, you could experience more rapid hair loss. Iron, vitamin D, folate, vitamin B12, and selenium are just some vitamins and minerals that have shown to help with hair growth, so make sure you are getting enough in your daily diet.
5. Hairstyles can also contribute to hair loss. Pulling your hair back in a tight ponytail or in braids on a regular basis can cause your hair to recede. Heat styling and excessive use of chemicals on your scalp and hair can also worsen hair loss. Not tampering with your hair frequently and using natural products, such as aloe vera, can help restore hair growth.
